The Gospel Mission Ministry
Gospel Mission Church komkonga is a pentecostal missionary and evangelical church within the GOSPEL MISSION MINISTRY ,registered under the umbrella of the Union Of Gospel Ministries Tanzania and in partnership with the VHM (voice of hope Ministry Tanzania),We are located in the Tanga region,Handeni District, Komkonga (Rural Ward, Tanzania) since 2001. Motivated by the love of Christ, and enthusiasm to champion Jesus Christ through the Gospel, to spread the Good News about the Heavenly Kingdom of God in these villages where the population is entirely of radical Islamic faith by almost 100% since its existence
Despite the church huge and challenging role it plays in these villages,to fight for people's right,to teach forgiveness, love and to provide the population with spiritual education and guidance through the Gospel of Jesus Christ,to try and support the needy and rejected ones with basic needs,to encourage them to abandon their deep belief in witchcraft (voodoo) and other gods, mainly(MANGUBE) who is believed to be a very powerful spirit figure who once invoked provides with spiritual powers for evil rituals, The church has become the hope and safest place the unfortunates run to in search for shelter and peace. the church is barely known to the rest of the world due to the lack of funds, infrastructure and means of communication in order to meet the needs of those who are rejected after turning their lives to Jesus Christ.
Working environment
We are serving a community of strict radical Islamic faith with almost 100 % of the population being Muslims since its existence, with this district famously known as small Mecca. The district remains underdeveloped and its population living in extreme poverty for many years due to it being bound by dark powers, traditional witchcraft, cheap prostitution, lack of basic infrastructure but also illiteracy being one of the most common cause.Traditional agriculture based environment in which education is not considered a priority. Thus these conditions making it very hard to spread the Word of God effectively.
The importance of the church in this community
- Unlocking people from the bonds of darkness, superstitions, black magic and witchcraft powers.
- To teach the word of God and to teach them to know Jesus Christ correctly as God - The Bible says Jesus is unique in both His person and His purpose. He wasn’t just some spiritual individual during His time on earth; He was both God’s Son (John 3:16) and God Himself—God in human flesh (I Timothy 3:16). Our church has become a safe place where people find refuge in the community for various reasons, like after being rejected by their loved ones, food, counseling, family issues, health problems, ect.....generally the church is the hope of those who have been negatively affected by different life's circumstances.
Our challenges
- For many years now the church has not found a permanent building and we are still worshiping in a tent and lack of general working equipment such as:means of transport, speakers, microphones, and basic logistics
- Village elders opposing the preaching of the Gospel of Jesus Christ by all means possible even through witchcraft.
- The church has been severally sued by the opposing section of the community in attempt to close it down.
- By forming small groups of protests for the purpose of preventing the gospel from being preached.
- Preventing people from attending crusades and even from attending church services.
- Ordering all Muslims from participating in any Christian activity And those who accept Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior of their lives to be completely rejected by their families and even the society as a whole.
- Hate and death threats to God's servants.
- The converts go back to their decisions and the church lacking enough financial capability to cater for their basic needs, for example: students have been chased from their homes and deprived of all fundamental rights, the same happens to couples being rejected by their partners especially for mothers.
- Failing to acquire a building or a home for those who are separated from their families and loved ones as a price for accepting Jesus Christ.
